This month's Expressions card-making kit is just too unique to pass up. The fun combination of Authentique papers and coordinating embellishments are really great to work with for making fun family-oriented projects. The autumn colors are really beautiful to work with and there are some fun punches inside too!
Time can be short this time of year - there is a lot of holiday planning and decorating to do. . . so here are a few really simple cards that can be made with the kit. You can click on each card to see them bigger if you like.
Another fun project you can make with this kit is place cards for your holiday dinner table... the small sheet of Authentique elements have some fun words like "Gather," "Family," and "Happy!" Just use one, and some word stickers, on each card. (4x3 paper, folded in half) Add the letter stickers to spell out the name of each dinner guest and they get a special message and a keepsake too.
One of my favorite things about the kit is the full sheet of word stickers. They remind me of magnets that you used to be able to buy in book stores for putting on your refrigerator - you could make poetry or sayings out of random words... how fun to be able to use these to make cards! You can make your cards say lots of different things.
If you happen to have a little MORE time for card making this month, here is a project that you might enjoy practicing. It's a tri-shutter card, and they are really pretty for making big, beautiful greetings that can double as a decoration. I made this video last year, for making tri-shutter Christmas cards. The instructions are pretty easy to follow. The card bases are not as difficult to make as they appear. To make the patterned paper mats, simply cut each piece 1/4 inch smaller than the section that you want to place them in. For instance, the long pannels at each end measure 2 x 6 inches, so your mats should be 1.75 x 5.75 inches. Here is the card sample, and the video, if you want to give it a try.
Thanks for watching!
